We had a great time - 11 days! Lots of music around the campfire. These are mostly family pictures... (click on the link)

Thank you for sharing! Great looking camp and family. Everyone looks like they had a great time. :hatsoff:

Hope you can make it to next years eastern. I have enjoyed your photos from this years and last years. :hmm:

Great pics, looks like a good time was had by all invloved. The expressions on the kids faces tell the whole story!

I was there also at least through Wed. Can you spell HOT? The weather was brutal and we were camped not in the woods and it didn't cool down until dark. Since camps have become more cushey since I was at my last one in the mid 80's probably due to the increase in wives and families attending I need to get a small folding table, folding stools and a folding chair with a back like I see pictured. Do you have a source or plans? Thanks.

Yes, reddogge... the heat was brutal for that time of year - the thunderstorms and subsequent breezes were really a blessing! We did have some very high winds where we were camped, though (up with the horses on the ridge) - our fly started coming down during the storm on Wed. - one of our neighbors (Sarge) helped my wife and I get it back in place in the midst of the rain & wind while our kids were in the tent crying! :) We can put the fly down to match the contour of the tent (see photos) and become quite aerodynamic.

Yes - my wife needed to know that our camp would have "certain amenities" before she first agreed to camp! I know that Panther Primitives sells those folding canvas chairs with the backs and some folding tables. They also sell plans if you want to make your own.

Thank you for that information. We were camped on the other side of the Sutlers nearer to the wide traders road leading to the main entrance. On my visiting walks I noticed the camps in the woods were noticably cooler.

Back when my son and I went we went very minimal on equipment; lean to, two plank chairs, two candle lanterns. We did camp with our long time rondevous friends and I was able to share a fire, table and benches to eat on. In return I did a lot of cooking for everone. Now I see braissiers are the thing and no camp fires. My son, his friend and I want to do a little more camping but all of our wives aren't too thrilled we are talking abour getting back into it and I was warned not to get into it as heavy as I was 23 years ago.

Here's the only picture I took of our little group and my poor old lean-to camp.

Very nice--good looking family, good looking camp...I have not been up in that neck of the woods in many years...cooling off yet?

Hey Gene, I don't remember seeing you with a camera! Very nice pics! We really enjoyed your mandolin playing......That song about "I'm my own Grandfather" was a classic. I am gonna get me a mandolin!!! We had a great time and enjoyed your family as neighbors.

in the photo of "River Rat returning from a shoot" looks like he has a SILENCER on the End of his Rifles Barrel. What is that? :youcrazy:

I use a 1/2" hickory rod attached to a 6" piece of ironwood. It fooled many people into thinking that I had a 52" barrel on my gun.

Assume that is Arizona Desert Ironwood, very lovely, and the DUST IS TOXIC (FYI) Friend works for the local Power Company and make lovely Bowl out of Desert Ironwood he turn n a lathe, he bough his set up from a Guy who did the same but did not use a Respirator when turning Ironwood... Thanks for the reply.

Enjoyed the post. The picture by the lake was taken right in front of our camp. We enjoyed that view the whole Eastern. I hope we can all return to the site soon.
