As cut nails are used to affix the buttplate, they don't wander like wire nails (especially when pilot holes are drilled). I built a few NW guns and not one nail ever went off course...Loyalist Dave said:You can understand why they use two screws instead of the more common nails in the butt plate. Can you imagine the loss in damage to the butt stocks during production anytime one of those nails diverted during installation of the butt plate, even when using pre-drilled holes?
