As cut nails are used to affix the buttplate, they don't wander like wire nails (especially when pilot holes are drilled). I built a few NW guns and not one nail ever went off course...
 
You might also consider a Type G, sometimes called a “Carolina Trade Gun.” I’ve never held a more comfortable weapon to my shoulder, and I’m avidly searching for one now
 
I absolutely love my Carolina gun. It has been the only gun I use for the last couple of years.
