A month ago I was contacted about making three matching pouch oil bottles, all with a little engraving, for a father and his sons. Â The father was also a Marine and asked if I could engrave the Marine Corps insignia on the other side of his bottle. Â Instead, I cast a tiny sterling silver insignia and mounted it on the opposite side from his initial. Â I felt badly that it had taken me a month to finish these, so I took off work, just sat down and finished them on Veteran's Day. Â When I looked up from my bench, it was dark. Â I wanted to take a quick picture and send it to the man who commissioned these just to let him know that they were complete. Â I usually take these kinds of pictures in subdued daylight, but had to take this one on the kitchen table and with bad lighting. Â However, in getting ready to send the photo out I realized that this was a fine thing to have completed for a US Marine...on Veteran's Day. Â (I think I need to make one for myself with a naval officer's insignia.)
All the best to all the veterans out there...and a quiet prayer for all of our shipmates and comrades-in-arms who didn't make it home.
