Where can I find a good Spontoon (on the less fancy side) or Spontoon kit for the Rev War Period?

You may want to check on TRS as well. One of our officers got his from them and I believe it was cheaper than Townsend.

I don't believe Jas Townsend carries that anymore...but the other two are great, thank you very much, and what is a good type of wood for the Spontoon? oak, ash, etc?

Have someone right on here craft you one. I did. James Gray III made mine. Haven't yet finished it. But he did a fantastic job at a very fair price. I will use his talents again.

I made a pole arm from Townsend's lance point and a quarter staff I got at some Ren faire...(what a unsorted mess of 'reenactors'!) I know someone who did the same thing but instead of pinning the head to the shaft, used a huge nail/spike thru the head/shaft as a cross piece. This also allows him to remove it for traveling.
Lance head about $20, shaft $20.
