Anyone used a potato to "age" a barrel?, if so what is the process and what does the final product appear, I am fiddling around with methods to add a bit of age to a circa 1730 Fusil being used in 1770.

tg, you could try it on the underside of the barrel where it don't show first to test the results yourself...

Does the type of potato make a difference?

Idaho's may have less acids that the little red ones, ect...

I have a 4" scrap barrel I use for testing, I was just looking for someone with some hands on expreince with this method.....the gun parts for the Fusil are not here yet, just thinking ahead and trying to kill time while waiting.
