My SMR is taking on stain. This board set up is the easiest way I've found.for the other side I just pick the forearm up off the nail and pivot the stock on the screw that's in the butt end.The front screw goes up through where the rr pipe was and the butt end screw is in the hole where the butt plate screw goes.

Looking good so far. It looks like you're adding a nose cap? Or maybe the pic is tricking me? May I ask for details? Thanks ... I'm just starting a SMR build, and I'd prefer a nose cap, if it can easily be done.

Nose caps are a little tricky but I can give you some pointers. Only reason I can give pointers is I've done several and you get better as you go. I wish I had the pointers that I have now when I done the others.
PM me and I can explain and give you my help. Yes I put a nise cap on this smr and it looks great. My pics are not in focus real good.

Kibler has a good video on nose cap install. He uses epoxy and a couple rivets. I don't do the rivets. I think he's is concerned about PC

What are your rivets made of. I've got a SMR
All steel/iron furniture so don't want brass. I'm thinking just one in the bottom side of nose cap half way from front and rear of cap.

Not sure if you are asking me or @Pete G, but I typically use copper electrical wire for rivets. I use pieces of 14, 12 and 10 gauge wire, depending on what I am riveting. I like the visual contrast between the copper and both steel/iron and brass, as at least for me it adds a bit of a visual element, plus copper is much easier work with than even the mildest steel. Are copper rivets HC/PC for this application? I don’t know, I’ll wait for the experts to weight in.

And realistically, I believe with your nose cap, two copper rivets in the ramrod radius channel would only be visible when the ramrod is removed from the gun.

If I get a chance I may look for the Kibler video on how he does nose caps, but at first glance, it appears it could take some searching to find it.
