Getting ready to order a range rod but I must first know what thread size is most standard for .50 caliber and .54 caliber ramrods. All of my attachments are the same thread size. TC .50, CVA .50, Lyman .54 and Traditions .32 Crocket rifle. Also I checked a jag for a unmentionable and it too, has the same thread size.

What size would that be?

Anyone?

R Ellis is correct but for "most" of muzzle loaders 10-32 is common the 8-32 is used for modern cleaning rods.
I checked all my attachments on a Lyman .54 Great Plains Rifle that was built in 1990. So that means all the other rifles I listed in my OP has the same threads in their RR.

Do you happen to have a wire stripper which has threaded holes for cutting off different small bolt sizes used for outlets? I have one that has both sizes plus some and you can use that. I'll be willing to bet it's 10/32 though.

So, now onto locating a range rod that has those threads. From what little bit of checking into this I see they are listed a in inches. 5/16, 3/8, etc.

I seldom use my ramrod for cleaning. Sometimes I use a range rod with the 10-32 threaded stuff, but mostly I just use a standard stainless steel 8-32 threaded cleaning rod with a bore guide. Works just fine. I don't carry cleaning stuff to the range though. I wait until I get home to clean the gun.

As said, stick with 10-32 threads for .50/.54/.58 etc. the smaller 8-32 threads are better suited for smaller jags for smaller calibers. You can get a nice SS range rod with a bore protector with 10-32 threads. Or if you want an unbreakable synthetic rod go with the largest diameter for your bore size to minimize flex. I use a 7/16” Derlium rod for my .50’s. All in 10-32 thread. For my .45 I have a 1/4” SS rod with 8-32 thread.

Indeed. I have no plans on going to smaller threads. Makes no sense with larger diameter ramrods.

5/16 and 3/8 are the diameter of the rod itself. Most of my attachments are 10-32, however I do have adapters that go from 10-32 to 8-32 and vicy-versy so it doesn't matter if the rod and attachment are the same thread.
Getting ready to order an adapter due to a receiving a jag that has an 8-32 threads instead of the 10-32 threads in my RR.
