I need to get busy as soon as it warms up and make some small stone knives, hafted to Caribou antlers to give out for presents come Christmas time. I saw a guy on the internet doing this and thought it an excellent idea.
Folks I gave arrow points to really seemed to like them. I've made quite a few out of scrap plate glass I throw away by the ton. Glass knapps very easy and it's no problem to make flakes shoot clear across to the other side for nice flake scar patterns. Can you tell I like Turkey tail points?
On the knives I call this a tooth socket haft. The rear of the blade sets down into a mortise cut about a half inch into the antler down the leg, across the bottom and up the other side. This makes a much stronger stone knife then a tang haft provides as it uses the whole base and up both sides for strength.

That's a nice group of contemporary points and Spence's Turkey tails are really nice!
The amazing thing to me is the oldest paleo points are the best made, real masters from the get go.... how??? Look at Clovis or Cumberland styles. We're still not sure how the we're able to blast the flutes the way they did. A lot of modern knapper's make fluting jigs that they wouldn't have dragged around. ..lol
