I know CVA used to offer steel framed Colt Army kits, and Dixie for years had their steel framed Colt Pocket kit in .31, but all I can find today for kits in the Colt style are either brass framed, or the Walkers dixie sells. Anyone know of either:

a place selling new steel framed kits, or;

have an old unassembled one they want to part with?

Pretty scarce, dixie sells the walker and a Remington steel frame, I've built both. Your almost money ahead looking for an older Navy Arms or Pietta and buying that. The finish on some is so rough that it is worth stripping and repolishing. I did a Pietta Remington for a friend a year ago which turned out nice. I repolished everything to what would have been the original specs, built new grips from figured walnut, tuned the action, and reblued with rust blue. It turned out very nice. If I was going to do it again I would silver plate the triggerguard, color case harden the hammer and trigger using bone and charcoal, and than do a charcoal blue on the balance of the parts. I have a couple Piettas laying around that I might do this with.
