Some of my stocks really get messed up, especially after a N-SSA skirmish, with sweat, lube, cap residue, hot dog mustard, etc. I have been using a damp cloth ( water ) to clean it but was thinking of trying diluted Murphy Oil Soap, but I don't want to remove any of the stocks oil finish. Has anyone used MOS as a stock cleaner?

I'd test a spot first if you have an oil finish. The Murhpy's won't hurt, but could displace the darker finish oil. Dilute the Murphy's with water per the instructions on the bottle and you'll be OK.

I wipe my stock with a dry rag and then buff in beeswax as a protective later. There is Murphy's in the lube and powder solvent I use, and it hasen't bothered the guns I've used it in/on (one Tru-oil finish, one T/C factory finish).

Absolutely.. I watched them grind the mustard seed right there at the range.

ahhh, good, then the Murhpy's oil should work just fine,, ;>)~~

I'd dilute the Murphys 50/50 with water first and try it that way to make sure it doesn't darken things any.

For my Military, oil-finished centerfire stocks, I really like to use Formbys Lemon Oil Treatment. It cleans really well, doesn't cause any discoloring, adds some moisture back into the wood, and adds some protection & preservation to the wood as well.......best of all worlds.

I'm still tryin ter figure out just where the mustard fits in a skirmish...lessee...he already mentioned lube so it ain't thet....AH! I see..if all else fails he squirts it in the opponents eyes...Well! I will be dipped..we have found the begining of where mace came from... Now all we have to do is try to find records of how much mustard was issued to each soldier... :grin

Until you get mustard gas!!! Then it's chemical warfare, how low can you get! :crackup:Remember that old Raid commercial?
