I am looking for suggestions for sources of a .54 Cal. straight rifled barrel for a Flintlock Fowler project. Any help would be appreciated

OK so you need to give us some specifications, perhaps? 42" or longer or shorter ? Straight or swamped octagon, or octagon to round? How close to an actual gun design do you want, or don't care as long as it hunts?

The answers will help folks find sources for you.

In the mean time, you might contact Bobby Hoyt who can do rifling or change a rifled barrel into a smoothbore .., see if he will "groove" aka straight rifle a barrel for you. IF he can, then you have the option of finding a smooth bore barrel and having it grooved, OR a rifle barrel, having it bored out and then grooved. The latter is two procedures so it will be more expensive I'd expect than having an already smooth barrel from a "smooth rifle" and having the barrel grooved.

This is probably your best bet since as of right now it doesn't appear that there are any "smooth rifle" rifle barrels in stock anywhere.

I'm moving this to The Gun Builder's Bench as the folks that frequent that area will likely have better answers than me to your question.

Don’t really understand the attraction of a straight rifled barrel for a smoothbore.
It was tried a few times in the past, with not much luck.
A smoothbore is supposed to be just that. A smoothbore.
You just add one more issue with the rifling, now you have to seal the grooves.
A better plan, would b a smooth barrel with a jug choke.
That works.

i know some folks have their fowlers made with colerain rifled barrels, to me I’d rather just go smoothbore at 20 g

I have not seen Bobby Hoyt's rifling machine. Based on his ability to make any twist, I suspect he is using a sine bar machine. He may be able to disable the sine bar mechanism to make straight rifling.
