I wanted to publically thank Stumpkiller for his "Moose Marrow" recipe. I was breaking in my new .54 Lee REAL conical mold and decided to look up a conical lube on this site. I'd been lurking for a while, and knew about "Moose Snot". I wanted something with a thicker consistancy than Bore Butter, so that it would be easier to deal with. I mixed up a batch of Stumpkiller's Moose Marrow. It is a little thin at first, but will "dry" on the conical to the exact consistancy I wanted. I shot my first batch yesterday, and got a 3/4 inch three shot group at 50 yards. It seemed to beat out Bore Butter in my rifle with my load.
Here is Stumpkiller's recipe, cut and pasted from one of his posts:
Moose Marrow. Very dense for warm weather conical lube.
Beeswax 3 oz.
Castor Oil 9 oz.
Murphy's Oil Soap 1 oz.
Witch Hazel 1 oz.
