Not sure where to post this ...and not sure if I should but just in case ..God forbid there is someone out there as dumb as I am...
I was working on one of my smoothies . On the bench in the clutter was a few pieces of steel wool . Along with that was the plug in connection to my recharagable screw driver , which was still pluged int the wall socket.

for some unknown reason I happened to go back to my bench just before closing up my gunroom .There, open flame and all ,was the start of a fire that could have certainly destroyed the house.

The connection end had came in contact with some of the steel wool and you now know the rest .

I really can't say how stupid this seems , but never in my world did I ever thing something like this would occur.

Needless to say I spent the rest ofthe morning cleaning up my workbench !!

Hope this never happens to you.
Dumb Dumb Dumb Dumb

That steel wool is something else, you can use it as char cloth for flint and steel fire starting too...

As you know, sheep make wool, and steel wool comes from metallic ram silhouettes, which are fired at...

So it only makes since that metallic ram wool catches on fire easily...

All kidding aside, glad you caught it and saved the day, you are lucky, lessons usually don't come cheap...

All things can be replaced, glad you and your family are safe...

As a Public Education Officer for the fire department, I would take a regular 9v battery and tell my fire extinguisher classes that I could ignite steel with it. Of course I would produce a wad of steel wool and set it glowing and then burning by just touching the terminals with it.

Glad you and the family are OK and you saved your incident from getting out of hand. Good Job.
