I don't know what the absolute legal responsibilities are for TC or any company that issues a “lifetime warranty”. But I do know the TC warranty has been used and abused and TC has show great generosity about honoring it. How many other companies that offer lifetime warranties do you guys rag on?
TC is still a better than average compnay to deal with.

I contacted TC about warranty policy. The service rep said they won't honor the "lifetime warranty" unless it's the original owner who bought it new. S&W owns TC so things have changed. At least here.

I bought a Ducane BBQ grill in 1996. I also bought the optional lifetime warranty for $50.00. 2 years ago I needed a part, called them up and was told that Weber now owns Ducane and they only purchased Ducanes assets, not thier liabilities so they would not honour the warranty. The contract you had with T/C for a lifetime warr. is null since they are no longer in business as T/C.

I agree with what you say about the generous TC warranty being used and abused by some. At the same time, their warranty policy was a major factor in their success. Companies' original founders pass away all the time without welching on previous warranties, and Thompson Center is still doing business as Thompson Center. I would guess that many, if not most people are unaware of such changes in corporate ownership, nor should they have to be in order to expect the comnpany's warranty to be honored. I've been a longtime admirer of TC products and own several, but that is no reason to be an apologist for a company's shortcomings. At any rate, all this is academic since pretty soon all we will see from TC are its ("That Which May Not Be Spoken") rifles. Seriously, too bad.

Yeah they are gone and those of that are hanging on missed out. THere are a whole lot more origional buyers that died and had full coverage all of their life. I never felt that the warranty was for the life of the firearm just the buyer. As I get older I am just happy if there is any coverage. At least they were U.S. Made. Geo. T.
