SXS SHOTGUNS

Because I have been bitten by the SXS bug I would like to see your double guns. What style of bags do you guys carry?

I picked up this Navy Arms Pietta about a year ago for 350 if I remember. Seemed like a good deal at the time. And now that I see it's the Deluxe model with the checkering and color case hardening... it was a darn fine deal.

Patterns pretty good for being cylinder bore. I haven't hunted with it though.

I use an English Speed Bag. I like this style because the opening is rigid and "stays open" and the lid is hinged so it stays all the way back out of the way.

I use an October Country Shotgunner's bag with a shot snake on the shoulder strap. TOW carries them, or used to anyway. It has proved to be a good investment.

I love SxS shotguns. All of mine are cartridge type 80-120 years old. I’m on the lookout for a BP SxS now though. Following this with interest...

My WWII Gas Mask bag finally bit the dust last fall after about 50 years of ML Shotgunning. Held all my stuff, Stanley Thermos, and three rabbits or four squirrels. Think I gave 50 cents for it. My stuff's apparently now "Vintage"(whatever THAT means). About any bag with a shoulder strap'll do just fine.

I use a SXS for two things. Hunting and shooting skeet. For hunting I put all the stuff in my vest pockets. For skeet I spread it all out on the loading bench.

If my first wife is half as purdy as your flintlock Side by Side's I will be one lucky man!!

One thing I've definitely learned the hard way with side by sides is to make sure you pay close attention to your loading process. I've ended up with loose powder pouring out on the ground and a really heavy load on the other more than once, even when I thought I was paying attention. No dry balls, luckily, but two and a half ounces of buckshot will get your shoulder's attention.

I prefer the English original sxs mostly a 12 but the 14 and 16 are also good for game such has Pheasants and partridge plus pigeon decoying
