Does it exist?
Yes, but the only model I know of that they made in left hand is the Renegade.
Check with TC's "Fox Ridge" store, 800-243-4570, ext#3

i have a left-handed renegade caplock. t/c informed me that they cannot support my warranty as far as left-handed parts go (for instance, the barrel). i would have liked to get one of the t/c pennsylvania hunters, but i shoot lefty and it was right-handed only. i wasnt aware that fox ridge was still manufacturing a lefty flintlock, but i guess i'll have to look into it now

Oh no...I don't KNOW that they still do...I simply suggested giving them a call to see

I also have a lefty Renegade caplock. Right handed caplocks are no problem. I have a Hawkin "Cougar" also that is a righty. I want to get a flintlock and it must be a lefty, can't imagine shooting it with the pan right there in my face.

I looked at the FoxRidge website and they don't list either the Hawkin or Renegade as a lefty.

I don't like the weight/balance of the Lyman GPR.

well, let me tell you what i just did :hmm: . lyman is selling "reconditioned" flintlock deerstalkers on their webpage. i contacted lyman about what "reconditioned" means, and they responded that it only means that the rifles have some cosmetic blemishes. the rifles carry the same factory warranty as other lyman rifles (which is only 1 year, btw). the price is $230 for a lefty and $220 for a righty. .50 caliber only.

i ordered one of the lefty's. i decided that this is probably the cheapest decent-quality left-handed flintlock rifle that i am going to be able to find that is in like-new condition. cosmetics don't bother me, i'm just worried about lock function and bore quality. you can always refinish a barrel and/or stock.

the deerstalker is SIMILAR, though not the same as a renegade. it has a 2" shorter barrel (24" vs. 26"), and a cheekpiece (no cheekpiece on the renegade (but there is one on the hawken)). i think it also has a recoil pad, which some folks will find more or less desirable (not sure what i think yet).

i will post some pictures of this rifle when it gets here, but i think it will do quite nicely. its probably the cheapest way that i can decide if i like flintlocks or not. i would have preferred .54 caliber, but that price is a little hard to pass up.

anyone else who's thinking about trying a flintock might oughtta give these rifles a look.

I just gto off the phone with Fox Ridge...they have not made any left handed models since the big plant fire in '97.

Dixie Gun Works carries a L/H hawkin flint in both kit (290) and assembled (325). It is made by investarms, so its basically a Lyman. In fact, its a Lyman trade but with lots of brass and double set triggers, 50 cal only I believe. I have had one for several years and its a good rifle.
