Sounds like you are shootin' good, what are you using for patch lube? Some of the patches seem to show signs of being cut. I own a Renegade also which was cutting patches while loading. I used some 0000 steel wool around a old bore brush to clean up the bore. That stopped my problem with the cut patches. But if I was touching holes at 50 I would not be worried about anything.

Patches looked great, you will not improve accuracy much more by getting the patches any better. Your eye sight and the wind will make more of a difference. :nono:

As far as the post about wads/patches... I agree patches is the correct "term"... but there was no reason for a lecture. I will remind you that many smoothbores and Black Powder pistols use "wads" and not patches so he wasnt too far off since they are not restricted to just Shotguns shells. :blah:

Keep having fun shooting your Renegade... I love mine.

Dont let too many of these perfectionists on here bug you too much. There are aways going to be someone in the crowd telling you how wrong you are at how you are doing things.

Oh... by the way, I have over 2000+ muzzleloader shots fired without a "Dryball", so I guess I "Will" sooner or later according to someone. I however do have a CO2 unloader I use to empty loads after I go hunting. I never store my guns loaded so I use the CO2 unloader to dump the load out. They are available at Cabelas online. This would be a good way to pop a dryball out also.

RELAX PEOPLE and try to have fun! :v

I can't remember if this is a new gun or not. What I'm getting at is, if it's new, it will take a couple of hundred shots or so to smooth that barrel out. Your patches look very good, and probably will get a bit better with time.

I will respectfully disagree. The same loads benched at 100 will probably tell a different accuracy tale.

Since you responded to my post but failed in your response to clarify that the avove remarks was not mine, I will do it for you.

Its really cool living in America we are all entitled to our own opinions.

I never slammed your post and said you were wrong... I simply stated my own opinion. Don't read into it anymore then that please.

As far as the post about the patches and wads. Why did you think I was talking to you? Since you didnt say anything about it was NOT directed at you.

RELAX and good shooting. :v :blah:

MOEncore -

I suspect that he thought your post was directed at him because it was. Go back and look at the line in your post that starts with, "In response to". You took no trouble to say anything else so it seems a natural conclusion.

He never mentioned anything about the "wads/patches" so why would you think that part of my post was to him. Anyway.... it was NOT intended for him since he said NOTHING about it.

Just ignore my posts if you dont like them.

Good grief... :shake:

I never considered your differing opinion to be a slam of any kind. I simply disagreed with your "reading" of the guys patches.

As far as the rest of it goes I was just clarifying, not just for yourself, but for other readers and participants in the thread and sort of trying to maintain the continuity of who said what, etc.

Can we please get back to the original topic?
It is much more enjoyable than the current small matter being discussed. :hmm:

:surrender: Thanks Zonie

This is not a new gun. Relatively new to me, I have just reaquired the Traditional Muzzleloader bug. I did buy this gun used from a local gun shop so I don't know how many shots went through it before me, or what kind of care it was given. I am still in the process of trying to learn as much as possible. I am anxious to get out to 100 yards on the bench and see what happens. I currently lube the patch by rubbing a small amount of Bore Butter onto the barrel side of the patch. I do not have a bore light so I have not inspected the interior of the barrel. I had a small Mag Light that would work, but can't find the little thing :haha: .
