Just recently bought a .36cal and .45cal Senecas, have never shot anything but round balls, my 36cal Senica seems to like 30gr FFFg Swiss, .350" RB with 10oz denim patch pre-lubed with 1:6 Ballistol:water. That being said...

I also have a .36cal Rice barreled Hawken comming, and am curious about using Conicals. Have no concept what style/ weight mold to buy, Maxi/mini, do you use patches with Conicals? What difference can I expect in performance etc...
I have only used .350 round balls in my .36 Seneca at this point. I plan to give conicals a try in the near future.

I also recently purchased a NIB .36 Seneca. All paperwork, box everything like I just went to the store 40 years ago. Not in a hurry to fire it as I also have a Cherokee in .32. It likes .310 balls and the original TC white patches they sold back in the day. Found a case of them on eBay a few years back so I’m glad they work cause I don’t think I will ever use them all!!!

.36cal 33" Rice barreled T/C Hawken arrived this past week and is impressing me so far. Sighted in @ 50yds using 30gr.

Then, just to see what it would do, moved to the 100yd. line. Increased the charge to 55gr.

It was a hot windy August afternoon in Central Texas, 107'F with wind full value from left to right. And gusting 12-15 mph. 19/20 shots hit in the black at 100yds. It's groups are very comparable to my Green Mountain barreled .50cal T/C Hawken. Even at 100yds. After that, packed up and went looking for some A/C.

Second range day with my .36 at 25 yards. Tweaking the sight as I can't seem to trust my eyes one day to the next. 25 grains Swiss 3F and my first try at Dawn/water 25/75 mix on .015 patches with the .350 ball.

First group was rather crappy as I tried 20 grains, but they tightened up at 25. The two groups here are 25 grains. Never swabbed and fired 20 consecutive shots before cleaning. I would love to get this down to a 20 grain load but each time I try, the groups open up too much.

Black targets are 1-1/2 inch square. I cut 3-inch squares into four parts, figure that's close enough for a squirrel head. Moved the sight to the right another 1/8 turn after so next shooting day they should all pile into the center... "should" :)
