tanning hides

I have a deer hide that I would like to tan,I understand that their is a method of tanning useing egg whites that gives results simular to brain tanning,does anyone have any information on this.thanks for your help rusty

How do you preserve the hide until you are ready to tan? I have read that you spread salt on it and roll it up. Is that the standard method?
