TC breach ?

I have a 50 renegade and a newly acquired 45 barrel for my hawken. The ramrod on the hawken doesnt go as deep as the renegade. IE it stops farther from the breach. The old 50 cal barrel for the hawken is like the renegade barrel in that the ramrod stops about 1/2" or less from the seam. Is this normal?
Pics are of the barrels with rods fully inserted and then removed and laid next to barrel at same length they were inserted.

Barrel IS NOT loaded.




ramrod actually goes to same depth in both barrels even though one is couple inches shorter

45 barrel is serial number 22xxx if that matters for design changes or something.

It appears that your new barrel could be still loaded.

again It is NOT loaded. air blows thru just fine. barrel clear and empty. I have even fired a blank 50 gr charge thru it. It appears to have a very long patent breach??

There is a possibility someone tried to pull a dry ball and drilled through it, leaving a portion of the ball still in the bore. I have never encountered a breech that long in any T/C. Any chance you have a gunsmith near by with a bore scope?

Shining a tactical light down the bore, it looks same as other barrels. And dropping metal range rod down it gives a metallic tink

There is no way the breech plug face could be that far forward. :hmm:

That's probably a good idea but remember, their speciality is CVA's and Traditions.

I'm not sure how much they can do with a TC. :hmm:

I have come to the conclusion its a piece of brass,copper tubing down in there. ive tried forcing a brush into hoping to get enough grip to pull it up, no luck

I cant help but wonder, what was they thinking?

And how am I gonna get it out?

The only thing I can think of to grab a tube from the ID is a large tap attached to a long rod.

Betcha the object will tell the story once you get it out. its amazing some of the stuff that gets stuck in the bore of a muzzle loader
