I just watched Bob McBride’s video on barrel twist. I bought a .32 crocket this summer and was wondering if anyone knows what the twist is in that barrel? That was a very informative video. Thanks Bob.

Okay, I did a little searching and it appears the 1:30 number is right. I saw it mentioned in an older thread here and also at another forum. Further, I came across this article: MLsmallgame2. If you scroll about halfway down to a section titled "The First Production Small Bore Muzzleloader Designed For Small Game Hunting" you will see the author mentions the same numbers (in conjunction with a 24" barrel). Assuming your gun has a 24" barrel (idk if other lengths were even offered) that should be the right twist. :thumb:

Yep, mine has a 24”. Thanks, that was an interesting article.

I messed up. I have a T/C Cherokee not Crockett.

I have a Traditions Crockett 32 which I shoot weekly, but have always wanted a TC Cherokee I'm always finding them after they have sold.

Mine has the double triggers. I’m enjoying it. I’m still fiddling around with powder charge and patches though. Some days it shoots great, other days not so much. Could be me but off a bench I don’t think so.

30 grains FFF, prelubed patches and a round ball should be consistent. Make sure to be persistent in cleaning after each outing. A dirty barrel with cause discrepancies in accuracy.

Here's some pics of how much 3F is required to fill the 'improved breech of a .32 TC Cherokee. 12 grains.

I'll be using no less than 12 gr or be using a filler to remove airspace from powder to ball.
That’s really interesting. Thanks for that. I haven’t gone below 15 gr. I keep going back to 20 gr, .315 ball, .010 lightly lubed mink oil patch. Going up in powder hasn’t helped. But I’m not sure I went to 30 gr. I’ll try it. Thanks for the help fellas. Jim

Hmmm...My Pedersoli Harper's Ferry percussion pistol (.54) has a similar breech and it takes the same amount fill it up. Though it is larger in diameter it must also be a good bit shallower. I just thought it was interesting that two different guns of different makes and calibers took the same amount of powder to fill up the reduced diameter breech section. :thumb:

I own three 32 cal TCs and all three shoot 15 grains 3F Goex .010 patched lubed with either Hoppes patch lube or Tow Mink oil and a .315 ball extremely well.
