TC Firestorm flintlock

The non (strictly) traditional individual that I am, :grin: I agree with TG on this point. The Firestorm would certainly be at the limit of at least the “spirit” of traditional flintlock rifles. Nevertheless we must tell the truth and not let emotion come to play. I have explained as closely as I can of my own experience with one.
I also imagine a person that lives in a flintlock only hunting situation would certainly gravitate to one. Especially if that person is just a hunter and not like most of us. It is what it is, nothing more, nothing less. :hmm:
As to magnum description in the ads, I believe if I read correctly that each pellet is 50 grs. Three of them would be 150 grs and I can see why Paul's “acquaintance” complained about recoil. Not to mention how expensive those silly bullets are. Man that's crazy! And you STILL need real black powder. The Firestorm handles GOEX and patched round balls just like any other flintlock, albeit, it's coil spring and other non nonconformity. :shocked2:

Good, have fun, I am glad my disdain can be put to use for those not using traditional gear, guns of any type need to be used regularly or they may loose their "spirit"

I could never get past the Tupperware stock; I just must have real wood on any rifle. Having anything other than open sights on a flinter would be like a 396 engine in a Model T.

Well...what can I say. I've heard so many times someone saying that he is a traditional muzzie hunter and then he says he owns this rifle... Just like with the "forbidden" style. But that's a long topic and not the pleasant one, so I won't start that. So are those people really lying when they say "I'm a traditional hunter" and use Firestorm? I guess it depends on point of view. It is a flintlock, uses black powder, shoots round ball...? What more do you want? LOL! Looks traditional so far. Plastic stock, QLA and easy sights....well....it's 21 century, and as much as preference goes...it doesn't have to be curly maple or wood of any other sort if one chooses not to go fancy. Nice to hear some opinions on this one.

I would not accuse any of them of lying but many a are misslead as to the real meaning of traditional hunting with a traditional ML and gear as the myth about some gear has been let pass for so many years,and while there can be some scope as to definition there are some things that the majority would agree are not traditional, we have some here that are allowed to be posted because so many use them, "modern conicals" "modern high tech peep sights" are the most common, no real harm done as long as all recognize them for what they are and do not try to reinvent the wheel for the newcommers that are really interested in the traditional ways, whatcha bet someone thinks up for the first time that the barrels are made of steel instead of iron? :rotf:

Today, once again I was lured into watching a show on the sportsman channel with a description of "Hunting Big Horned Sheep with a Muzzle Loader", and what do I see....a guy with a rifle very similar to the one pictured above, an in**** POS with a huuuge scope. After the shot the hunter was mumbling something about it being a record with a muzzleloader....I have to admit I threw up in the back of my throat... :barf: :barf:

The Firestorms are legal for the PA primitive season as long as they are open sighted. Fiber optics are legal here; conicals,bullets,and ball are all legal as well; must be single barrel with flintlock ignition so we are good there as well.

I don't like plastic stocks; I don't like QLA barrels; but I am sure many people don't have a problem with those things or may perhaps prefer those things. It still is a flinter and using BP.

If you like it buy it and shoot it.

Technicaly true, the question is dioes it meet ones oen inner excpectations and feelings of what ML hunting is really about, is "loading from the front" all there is to a ML for you? does the historical aspect of the sport not touch you in any way? causing the desire to use something that at least somewhat resembles what would have been around in the early 19th century, does it have a soul? these questions each must answer for themn seklves that upon making the choice look into ones self and determine if you are seriously into traditioal hunting, not everyone is and that is fine and an honest assesment of ones goals and inner feelings/understanding/acceptance of the old ways and tools and dedication to master them as those in the past did or just use a gun that has been made to be as easy to use and as close to the modern guns we grew up with for the sake of a quick learning curve and minmal effort, no right or wrong, good or bad just two different worlds that many try to cross over with a type of gun or gear that does not belong.It is all a matter of choicewhich we use but the choice has been made as to the definition of the type of gun this is by the manufacture.

Do I like it? Looks interesting. Would I buy it? No. I went my way and bought tc hawken with 62 smoothie and 54 rifled barrels and on Wednesday purchased fusil de chasse... Hope this explains it. I asked about this gun beceause I saw them at decent prices some time ago. But never really got interested enough and was greatly influenced by members of MLF. Thanks

Everybody does what they feel comfortable with ... Obviously some people are buy and using them ... Some people are happy to get in their $40,000 computer guided pickup with their traditional wood and steel flinter, and go hunting, others are fortunate and can walk out the door ... And some slide a gps, range finder or cell phone under their traditional garb ... :grin:

There's only one reason why anyone who disdains the use of anything modern would see a thread entitled "TC Firestorm Flintlock" and decide to wade in and get heavily involved.


And Claude sets the parameters for what can and cannot be discussed here, not individual members.
