Even the earlier disfavored TC locks give pretty good service.
The 48" twist in .45 is good. The bore you'd better check real close 'cause there's lots of TC's in the world with corrosion damaged bores.

I just sold my TC flintlock; I'm unsure of the DOM. Mine was a .50 calibre and I would have actually preferred to find a .45!
It shot both PRB and REAL bullets more accurately than I expected (the bore looked like new) and sparked perfectly. I even tried firing it (twice) with Triple Se7en powder and it went bang.
I really only sold it because I prefer longrifles. For the money it's a good rifle, at least in my limited experience.

I was gifted a TC Hawkin .45 caliber Flintlock. If the serial number has a K in front, then it was a kit gun, nothing wrong with that, just some extra info. Mine I figure was made sometime in the late 70's early 80's. When it was given to me the woman found it in her attic of a house they bought. Didn't have a clue and didn't care to have it. So they gave it to me....Yup I lucked out even though it was in that attic for maybe 10-15 years. It was neglected, dirty, barrel was in great shape, nothing bad to speak of regarding to rust or being shot out, as well as the rest of the rifle was just dirty & tarnished stock was perfect as the lock, pan etc. I went thru it cleaning it and the darn thing looks new. I don't hunt (I am sure someone else here who does can add to the accuratcy and consistancy) but will say its pretty darn accurate and a blast to shoot!! I love it got me hooked on flintlocks. I have no issues at all, very simple to break down and clean after shooting too. This is one of the topics regarding the serial numbers on this site: Serial Number Dating a T/C

The only drawback to them is the T,.C..'s have their version of a patent breech which is not as fast as a simple vent hole. I have one and as long as you keep the flash channel open it shoots better than I can.I bought "new" style cock for mine but did notice any difference from the origonal.

I’ve owned several TC’s over the years but only one flintlock TC.

It’s a .50 Renegade, which is a tack driver!
I don’t shoot it much , but my Grandsons like it!👍

They will kill….
