ebiggs,
Do you drill out the new allen head type bushings,or are they ok as sent?

The touch hole “bushings” that come from TC are ready to go and need no further modification on your part. They are .070 and the hex serves well as a cone. The inside is good to go also.
Considering everything, I believe them to be the beat you can buy for any flintlock.

The worst touch hole liner is Lyman GPR's! :td:
For some unknown reason Lyman has not seen fit to upgrade it's TC copied flintlock parts. Maybe if TC stops producing side locks Lyman will do an upgrade.

See rmcsports.com.

They offer a liner for the Lyman that has the hex cone and comes with an allen wrench. Thread is M6x.75. Works fine for me.

They don't have that preconceived notion that TC is supposed to be junk, like you may have concluded from reading this forum.

:yakyak: :dead:

I hope they are not junk because I have one coming as a Xmas gift. My New Englander has certainly been a good gun for the last 20 years. My father picked up a used flinter and shot it the other day, seemed to be just fine. That is the one I will probably be getting for Xmas. First time delving into the world of flintlocks, so this gun is very appropriate before dropping thousands on a custom when I may not even like it. Like the trad bows I shoot, I bought a lot of inexpensive used ones before I figured out what I liked and wanted before I started dropping a few hundred $ on custom bows.
