Your T/C Hawkin 1:66 will be a shooter, & yes a 1:48 will shoot PRB very well. I have a Rengade 54 cal 1:48 that shoots PRB with a 72 weighted volume of 2F with a .18 ticking patch very well, (My .54 just likes 2F better).

I shoot 72 weighted volume of 3F in my 50 cal Interarms Hawkin also with a .18 ticking patch, it's a 1:60 twist. (My .50 likes 3F better)
I use the same cane measure for both.

By the way, that's a nice T/C stick you have.

I've had/have both 1:48" and 1:66" T/C Hawkens...all have been very accurate... .018"-.020" pillow ticking with Hornady/Speer .490"s are what I settled on

although some may say that a 1:48 twist won't work, there's no reason you shouldn't give it a try... many have had good luck with this relatively fast twist using PRB. my wife makes hers sing and dance (but i still have to make the coffee in the morning)

good luck, and make good smoke

Roundball, what kind of powder charge did you settle on?? (type and amount?)
Thanks
Rich
