Whats a fair price for one, I've got one that is minty that a guy is wanting to buy but since I've had it 30yrs, not sure what its worth or what to ask? thanks
Chris

Minty and you Know it's prime?
Bottom price of 200 then >, beyond that it's value is too you, as it's sentimental.
300 for used 90% isn't un-heard of.

:yakyak: I've seen these on gunbroker from $250 all the way to $450. And rough ones from $150 and up. :hmm: So I'd say realistically, $300-$400 for your minty one!!

The actual value of these things in all truth varies greatly by region in the USA.
Here in MN, Wisc, and many areas of the south east a used hawkin can be had for $75-100 at garage sales an pawn shops.
Get into the northwest where their a bit more rare and the same gun can go for 400.
They sell here on the forum classifieds at 200 and up some for less but they don't stay listed long.
I've a cousin that has a kit model (K prefix sn#) he found at a clearance sale in the 80's all in the box. He didn't put it together until 2010 and thinks it's a priceless antique because it's un-fired..

That's why I said 200>, look around the region, talk to a few gun shops and find out what their going for.
It would be hard for me to part with a gun I've had for 30 years, unless I absolutly knew the buyer was excited and knew he was ging to use it. I've given bargin prices to guy's with some good stories only to find that they later sold it at a profit,,That'll yank yer chain!!

Mint percussion in 50 cal? I wouldn't sell it for less than $300. I don't care where you live!
I don't know where these guys find them for $75 bucks or a $100 cause I never do. They are probably not mint! :hmm:

i find'em in the 75 to 100 bucks range occasionally but they 'most always need a good bore scrubbin' and some t.l.c to get out all the bright red pyrodex frostin' that used muzzleloaders seem to get around here. people who know nothin' about'em buy'em to "extend" their huntin' seasons, shoot'em a few times, don't like the effort of loadin' or the mess/cleanup and take'em to the pawnshop and give'em away.

on the other hand, good ones that have been cared for are usually in the 200 to 250 range.

for what it's worth, bubba.

I've paid as low as 100. for a near mint Renegade to 300. for a Flintlock Hawken. My son-in-law bought a mint Hawken for 90. bucks. I paid 75. for a real rust bucket, just because it had a nice piece of wood and I needed the stock for a GM barrel. It depends on who's selling and who's buying, I guess.

It really does depend on location. Up here in NH where they came from, I have picked up four for under $100, 2 of them minty, but have seen stocks on e-bay for $200, and selling? :shocked2:

This started asking prices for TC Hawkins and I see all sorts of prices so I wana ask,Are the cheap rifles acually TCs. I just joined the group and posted in the newbie section wrong and asked about the diff in Hawkins/Rengades/Senecas. Ive seen each offered as TCs but I got what the guy that give it to me says was a hawkins but was made by Investarms in Italy,so would'nt that mean its a nock off of the original just like CVA and I'm thinking many others. I thought the Hawkins origianted because of the need for a big bore short rifle to take west, there wasnt much call for a rifle to shoot bear or moose or maybe buffalo in the east in the early 1800s. I could be wrong as history aint my best subject, As for this post about prices here in Indiana I found 2 aka TC Hawkins for $150,2 CVA Hawkins and ! CVA Hawkins for $125. Just for giggles, my Investarms sold for $110 12/22/1978 (got the orig reciept with the gun) This morn I went and got a 50Cal CVA with a 24" barrel for $100 that was listed as just a BP rifle, plain jane as hell with fixed sights and its sweet, Its like throwing up a carbine rifle, gona be a real happy grandson in town pretty soon.I'll end this by saying in the shop where I got $100 gun they had a TC Hawkins and they wanted more than $800, and it was a TC as it was inscribed with the name across the barrel

Unfortunately 800$ is what I paid for my T/C Hawken a couple of months ago!....Ouch! Just always wanted one so price was no object! Theres a sucker born every minute

I can't vouch for any others but the one's that I own but I have eight of them now and the most that I paid was $325 for an 'as new' flintlock, and $315 for a nice hybrid with a .54 cal Green Mt barrel. The least that I paid was $104 and $153 for a pair in a consignment gunshop. The reason is that all of the BP shooting up this way is deer hunting and when the in-lines came out, the trading began. If there were more rondy's or shooting competitions, it would have been different. Now with the strippers grabbing up all of the used stuff for ebay, it is getting harder to find in the shops but a lot are still squirreled away in the closets.

I bought my first flintlock four years ago. It was a brand new TC Hawkin. I paid almost full retail but I got 10% discount for paying cash instead of credit card. I had TC Hawkin percussion rifles since the early 70's but I wanted to try flintlocks. Having flawless performance from my TC cap guns was my single choice for buying the new TC flintlock. Am I sorry? Not in the least bit. This rifle has taught me and gave me so much enjoyment, $700 bucks was cheap. Plus this one and the first cap gun are mine. They were no one else's gun and never will be until I leave them to my sons.
Theres a sucker born every minute.
So is there a “sucker” born every minute? Maybe, maybe there is, but not by my experience.
Enjoy your NEW rifle.

Correction to my first post in this thread. I have picked up four for under $200, not $100

That is the problem with one finger typing and not looking at the screen :shake:

I feel ya! Kinda the way I felt! Been looking for used T/C's in the pawn shops and gun stores around here...nothing! Not in the traditional variety anyways :idunno:

First post here.

I just bought a slightly used (4 or 5 shots at the most) TC Hawken.

The guy I bought it from got it in a package deal from an estate.

I paid $225 for it and got an offer a few days later for $300.

I'd been looking for one for a while and this was by far the best deal out there.

I paid $250 for mine. If I had to guess I would say she is 85~90%. It is an older rifle with a nice looking stock. Seems likes the quality of wood used in the stock has a lot to do with the price you can get.

My local gun shop has a few Hawkens and Renegades in .50 and .54 for $150-$200. I bouth a .50 Hawken in like new condition for $145 (frequent customer discount). But looking around online I wouldn't pay more than $200 for a used one. Just me...

another gun store near me has a New Englander listed for $195, appears to %80-90 too. http://www.x-ringsupply.com/LongGunsSZ.html

Picked 2 up in Western Washington State for $200 each,Last Week, With Full Possible bags..Deals are out there..I would stay away from Pawn shops, as they do not store things well and have a tendency to Overprice BP rifles...JMHO

Bought minty Renegade in .54 this week for $95 in MI. Fair price; been up for sale @ $115 for a month on local board.
