TC Hawkin peep sight and ram rod?

Oak is too porous to use as a ramrod, of course there is oak and then there is oak, perhaps tight grain post oak might work.

I often wonder when folks extoll the virtues of using wood for ramrods, what would the old timers have chosen if they had a choice of the modern man made products available today? Would they have chosen a brass rod with 10/32 threads at each end which does not need pinning?

Wood is light, brass is not.

Unfortunately Dan passed away unexpectedly a few months ago.

I put a GM barrel on a TC Hawken a while back and installed a Lyman peep on the tang. I've sure been happy with that setup thus far and I've shot quite a few possibles in matches with it.
