A local gun shop is going out of business (3rd one in the past year). I dropped by as I usually do, and saw that they dredged up some old muzzleloading stuff. Of note were some jags made by TC. They were longer than a normal jag and had a necked down tip end that appeared to be to clean the chamber. Is that what they were for?

I think you may be seeing their Super Jag I think it's called. The shaft is necked down so cleaning patches won't bunch up and get stuck in the bore. I don't believe they are for cleaning the breech area.

I have a bunch of them. They go deeper, but a patch will pull off quicker then a flat nose one. The ones I have are tapered and have ridges, rings around them, nose is small and taper back to biger. In sizes 45,50 and 54. Dilly

No, it isn't a super jag. I have some of those. This is like Boardilly mentions. It looked like a good idea to me and at the close out price, I could not go wrong...
