For a beginning shooter, they are great starter guns. For a beginning builder, they don't teach you much about building a gun. Other than inflation, their value really doesn't increase, and no amount of polishing will make them more than they are - production guns of OK quality that resemble nothing in particular...
 
I hear people say this all the time "they go for 500 or 600 or whatever on gunbroker" & I tell them "no, people list them for such prices but, if you go through & look at the ones that actually get bids & sell the price is usually about 1/2 or less of what some of these fools are askin'". I've bought and sold like new T/C Hawkens, Renegades, New Englanders & others for 200 bucks or so. don't think I've ever paid over 3 for a really nice one.
