I'm looking for a TC nosecap for a hawken with 15/16th barrel. Also a TC tang in 15/16th. TOW has no nosecaps in stock.
Anyone have one, or know another source?

Call TC customer service...they have everything that's needed for TC Hawkens

a search may turn up a couple short descriptions. Also, if you order the pewter bar from TOTW it comes with instructions on how to do it. I've done two and also a couple knives. It's pretty easy.

Check Pete Alexander book...it has how to's on pewter caps... Let me know if you don't have an access to it...perhaps I could scan and e-mail to you...

I agree with the others, the poured cap is good. I added an entry pipe and a pured cap to a TC and it looks much better. The factory one is ugly and not historically common. While you are at it make or buy new pipes. Let them into the rib so the rod lies flat. TC reall dropped the ball there, I think it looks really amatuerish.

If you make those changes you might's well press on. Inlet the key escuchions properly. Fix the lock pannel mouldings. Add a proper lock screw escuchion or even a whole plate. Fix the cheekpiece. Add a toeplate. Fix up the trigger guard by remove the superfluious doo-dads.

I hate the looks of the sights. Unfortunately the drop is insufficient for good looking lower sights.

There is a decent looking rifle hiding in there, you just need to know where to look. The TC Hawken is a good fuinctional gun. It just has a mass produced modern look. You can't do much harm by altering it.

Oh, I used LINOTYPE lead alloy for my tip, worked great and did not burn the wood. No need for bismuth alloy or special no tox pewter. You can repair any casting flaws with solder and a soldering iron. I used rosin core solder.

Much of that I did to my TC Hawken. I still need to redo the ramrod thimbles on the under rib. I did keep the lock panels the same as on the original rifle, though. Still much better than it was.

I'm building this TC from used parts. I don't know if I will try to find the 'nice gun in there' or not. My plan is to have an accurate 'beater' to keep in the truck, or for loaning to a friend. (sort of a modern day 'barn gun')
I've had TC's before and was pleased with the performance.

I have the tang but not the nose cap. A putter nose cap could be cast in place and you would have something different from every one else.

There are 15/16 TC tangs for sale in the classified ads section of this forum under accessories.
