Hello, oh the dawg is sharp! lol.. I am looking in the possibility of aquiring a used TC Renegade .50. I would like to know distance capabilities for such a ML in hunting situations. thanks, best regards.

It really depends on how much you practice with it. im very confident with mine out to 125 yards or so. Its all in finding what it likes and shooting it often.

I have a TC Renegade I bought used as well. If yours has the factory sights, how far you can shoot accurately depends on how good your eyes are! The factory sights are bulky and the front bead will cover a 12" circle at 100 yards!

If you were to mount a scope I'm sure you could find a load capable of 2-3" groups at 100 yards from a rest. Personally my eyes aren't good enough to risk wounding a deer at ranges over 75 yards with the TC factory open sights, unless I have a solid rest and a stationary broadside target.

My 2 cents.

I too own a Renegade in .50. I took my first deer with it at 100 yds. Good luck on your search.

It's about the optics/sights.
Ball really starts loosing it near 150,
Stout loads with a proper Maxi ball/charge combo will be reliable at 150. The differance is the twist rates needed. The Renegade has a 1-48, a "comprimise" twist, it does all right with ball and maxi. A very good 100 yard gun, beyond that it's about the shooter not the gun.
The typical Traditional Sidelock ML is about the sport.
Any clown can shoot a deer, can ya hunt close enough to harvest with a Traditional gun?
Bow hunters love Traditional guns!!

thanks guys! and keep it coming!! its interesting knowing from people with experience in hand. Also educational of a trad ML's capabilities, not personally having shot one before or surrounded by people using them.

Im doing my research and studies, found load options and certain ballistics on the manifuc. site. the more i read the more i like!!

Those numbers are a good starting point. Every piece is different and you end up running quite a few rounds through (systematically varying patch & powder) until you find the sweet spot for your particular rifle.
