Anyone know what the breechplug threads are on a Senneca rifle? 45.
I don't, but just as a piece of related info, I understand that all TC breechplugs are a unique thread compared to other barrel makers.

At one time, TOW sold a duplicate TC plug for the larger muzzleloaders like the Hawken, etc, and might happen to know what the threads were on the smaller Seneca/Cherokee

I have a Seneca in 45 that has a less then optimal barrel and am going to re-barrel to a 40. I can get a 40 ffrom TOW but they are out of clone TC breech plugs. Thought maybe I could use the original plug. Maybe I'll wait until they get more in.

I don't know if you specifically mentioned it to TOW or not but as you know, the Seneca has the smaller 13/16" barrel and TOW may have assumed you were talking about the standard sized Hawken.

In fact they may have never even carried the smaller breechplugs...and I'd be surprised if they'd have new unique ones made up for old discontinued TC products like the Seneca at this point in time, just to sit on a shelf in their stock room...dunno.

Another thought to consider when thinking about plowing money into making something that will only fit the Seneca is that there are no more parts...ie: if a lock part breasks, the seneca is out of commission.

It might be simpler to have the existing barrel "sleeved" for a .40cal...there are some places that install sleeves in pitted barrels...I've seen it discussed here before...ask the quesion about sleeving over in the builder's section and somebody will know

GOOD to know since T/C has a thing about great service Except selling you parts to change barrels, real smart of them, wonder how much kick back they got out of GM or the other way aroud? Its for my safty I bet. :rotf: Fred :hatsoff: (then again Iknow nothing about them so.....)

If you check their site they list a plug to fit a GM barrel that is the same as the original Seneca plug. They seem to be out of stock at the moment. The site says "accepting orders" so I would presume they expect to get more in.

Kind of funny ...4 different places seem to be "out of stock" for any of the T/C plugs, real funny ! Fred :hatsoff: Senca+ Cherokee 5/8-18 or 9/16-18 ,,, Hawken (?) and Lyman ,Investarms 15/16" 5/8-18 perc or flint ,,, 1" Hawken,Renegade,Hunter Big Bore 3/4 - 16 both perc + flint

I wouldn't worry too much about the locks. I see them occasionally on Ebay. They're not all that common, unlike the Hawken/New Englander lock, but they are out there regularly enough to find one if needed.

Once Modern Muzzleload Corp. bought GM the good relations T/C and GM use to have is long gone. It is a shame too because these two companies are only about an hour away from each other off of the same highway (RT 16). I did phone work for both companies and remember when GM was a small company working out of a small steel building.

Boy back in the days :) . I just hope that S&W finally gets T/C to buy a new phone system, their old Nortel unit is junk.

bub this is the part no they do two thred sizes onePLUG-TC-13-5 is 5/8-18 one isPLUG-TC-13-9 is 9/16-18.
