This is the gun that was in an earlier thread, I thought i'd show some pics of the almost finished product. It has a 3/4 X 42'' 40 cal barrel, chambers lock & forged iron hardware.

It does look good. It looks a lot like what I've been trying to plan; except I want it in .32. yours, of course, being a .40 is lighter than the same barrel in .32. I'm interested in how it shoulders and handles for you in off-hand shooting. Post some results with that bad boy.

Thanks. The gun holds & points very well. I haven't weighed it but I would guess 6 3/4- 7 lbs. I cant give a range report because its not my gun & will be headin to its owner tomorrow. I think a 32 will still be light enough with this barrel to be a good handlein gun.

7 pounds is a tough number to get below, especially with a 42" barrel. The absence of a patch box will help though.

The wood was stained with aqua fortis then finished with tru oil that was rubed back & waxed. I forged the buttplate & trigger guard. Forged parts are lighter than cast most of the time which helps keep the weight down.
