Is that what that pin in the fore end is called? On my Investarms Hawken it does its job well and is in there snug, but come out easily by hand when I want to remove the barrel for cleaning. The wedge pin in my Renegade, though, is a bear. Any tricks to get those out without possibly marring the wood by prying it out with a tool? Thanks.

Next time you do get it out some adjustment should be made.
Folks can use this method to tighten a wedge/tennon fit;

One that's too tight can be opened with a large blade tip screw driver or small chisel usd as a wedge and tap it gently with a hammer to spread the tennon.
I like mine set up so that it does take something to tap the wedge to get it started but I can still pull it with my fingers.
But ya gotta look through there to see where the interference is, usually the tennon but it can be the wood or the plates and need a little file work.

TC does make this handy nipple wrench wedge puller tool, I have a few of these scattered around in assorted boxes an tool kits.

I cured a loose oneby trapping the wedge via a slot down its' middle anchored by a screw on the in place" end all of the other esoluton give here were tried and didn't work hence my need to make a replacement in the woods by whittling a bit of branch Hank

Buy a wedge brass puller from Possibles shop cost $4.00 and will punch out your wedge easily. i too have a very tough time removing my wedge this works well for me.
