I have a "jig" for testing old rifles, shotguns and revolvers. I'm sure they will work for muzzleloaders. Pistols, revolvers and rifles.
My question is how much powder for a certain caliber would be used beyond the recommended max load to test a barrel and/or the integrity of the whole gun?
Say a 45 pistol has a recommended max load of 50gr 2f. Would I use 60gr, 80gr or 100?
Never had to test a black powder gun before, but I have three pistols I would like to see how they will hold up. If they "blow up" so be it. Better safe than sorry.
