But, not the stock item.

The one thing I don't like about the GPR is that the TG is not a good fit to the hand when moving forward to use the front trigger. I like the fit on the TC Hawken. It's made possible by the extra finger loop for the middle finger. I got thinking that there is probably a TG out there with that finger loop that can be fitted to a GPR.

Not trying to off my needed research on our fine membership but am hoping there might be someone who has done this switch and can point me in the right direction.

Not looking to make work for you…
I have a TC Hawken. It fits me like a glove. My brother has the GPR. Not such a comfortable fit for me.
I don’t recall the shape of the guard on the GPR, but have you given any thought to soldering a finger spur onto the GPR guard ? That might fix your problem. :dunno:

I hadn't given any thought to that. Thanks for thinking of it for me. :thumb:

It's near identical to the tc TG except for the feet. They are way short. I'm going to peruse the photos on TOW and see what is a possible fit. I couls solder onto TC feet but that would be no less a job than soldering a hook onto the GPR. And, of course a TC TG seems to be very pricey.

Thanks for that reference. However, his are all TCs fitted with tc guards for set triggers or the others are Renegades with single trigger.

I was just showing how he brazed a hook to his trigger guard. Looks like it would be fairly straight forward to do the same with a GPR trigger guard once you have a hook fabricated to fit.

SDSmif,
If that lower picture is of a GPR guard, it should be relatively easy to do. If it’s a steel guard, a piece of mild steel could work. Just apply some file work and patience. Maybe a few cups of coffee too.

It looks like a TC rifle, but you are correct about it should be fairly easy to do. I found several on Track that could be modded to work but at this point it looks like a solder job would work and be less work and expense. Ive never braised anything but do have a mapp torch. Might be a good time to try something new.

The lower gun in the photograph is a GPR. I believe all GPR trigger guards are cast steel, but something to confirm.

If you care about 'authenticity', the GPR is more like a Hawken trigger guard than is the TC. But, if it is not essential, then you might well be able to solder that hook on there. The GPR is a very, very good representation of the half-stock plains rifle, some of which were built in the Hawken's shop.

Yes, I see that now. I was thinking more about his single trigger Renegades which apparently is the one he modified.

Authenticity is nice, but my 54 bore guns primary use is hunting so I'm not averse to modifications that make them smoother handling.

These are the candidates from the Track site. The top one seems to be the best candidate. If the braze or solder method doesn't work this might be the next step.

Here's the top one with an actual GPR tg layed over it.

Interesting how "different strokes for different folks" always comes into play. The OP wants to add the extra finger rest/loop to his trigger guard while I really dislike the appearance of that "finger hooky thing" on a trigger guard. I dislike it so much that when I remodeled my TC Renegade I removed it as shown in the attached photo. Nothing "wrong" with the extra loop if you like it but nothing keeping you from removing it if you don't like it either. To each his own.
