Unless you're trying to prove a point, what's the sense of going past 3 shots? I'm mainly a hunter so the first shot is the important shot.....the second shot is usually just the "coup de grace".

If you want "tighter" groups than those you're achieving w/ a smoothbore, then a bbl w/ grooves is in your future......Fred
 
If you are a hunter there is not much reason to do more than 3 shots.

However, if you are a re-enactor on a woods walk or a competitive smoothbore shooter the game changes a bit; your 10th shot has to be just as good as your 1st shot. After the first few shots the group seems to open up quite a lot.

Fatigue, fouling, inherent accuracy of the firearm who knows why, but I have seen a lot of tight 3 shot groups but not too many tight 8 shot groups.

I have been shooting those rifle guns a long time and the same applies to them, but the group does not seem to open as much.
