Just got done listening to this audio book and it was one of the most immersive I've ever read or listened to in this case. Why it's not a mini series or at least a movie of beyond me:

Boone gets some attention, but the life of Simon Kenton, someone I had never heard of before this book makes him my new favorite American hero. He was a true "sheep dog".

The book is a good history of the young frontier, but told through the eyes of many who were there which makes for an incredibly interesting read.
