Well, I love to shoot, and I love to hunt deer. I will give up neither as long as I am physically able to do them. If that means using a scope, then I will do what I have to do, until I cannot shoulder a rifle anymore, then I will go to the benchrest for shooting, until I cannot handle that either. Old age or death will one day stop me, but until it does, and as long as there's a way, I will do my best, to do what I can, using whatever it takes to do it.

 Well said Wick! :hatsoff:

I kinda feel the same way. Most of my guns have peep sights, but I must admit I have three sinners (no apologies either).

Well said, Wick. I'll stop shooting when I can't pull the trigger and stop riding my motorcycle when I can't swing a leg over the saddle. I already had to give up things like skydiving. LOL!

It may be a "sin" to scope a side lock but it is a far, far greater sin to wound and potentially loose an animal in the name of Historical Correctness.

Well it may be a sin to scope a traditional rifle, but I would guess there are lot of sinners here who have not admited it. We you get old and your eyes don't work as good as they use to ya have to do what ya have to do. When I can no longer use my peep sights, I intend to use a scope.

There is a pistol shooting sight clearing trick that an old guy iron silhouette shooter taught me and it works. I wear bi focals as he does. He looks through his bi focal to clear up the sight picture. The target blurrs some but the sight picture is perfect. Try it. It works for me.

Heck fire, fergit shootin' anything- yer all gonna be lost out there any way!
:rotf:

But relax, just yankin' yer chain.
:surrender:
I'm not a "PC/Traditionalist" either. Everyone does what they have to to get by. I used to prefer a peep sight to anything else. But after eye surgery, the apertures tend to look like a misshapen egg. So the big, herkin' iron sights on th' Renegade suits me fine right now- that and havin' to adjust position so I get the right lense on my TRIFOCALS!
(%&*$!!!). Old age does suck.

I think after a given age, there should be a handy cap for shooters with bad eye sight. that still want to attend rondezous. Heck, they have a women catagory and a juinor catagory . Lets not kick out the old and blind.I feel there should be some rule change. I have seen attendance drop. so lets not add to the problem.

Mort,
Excellent point. I used to shoot with the New Braunfels Schuetzen Verien where open sights were required unless you were of an age where you couldn't see the sights anymore. The shooting was all for fun and bragging rights anyway.

John

Good idea Mort. I used to race motorcycles and got to old to be competitive. Lucky for me they came up with an old timers class so I could still win once in a while. An age related change could keep the spirits up and have more shooters in matches. My two cents worth. Larry

My club does have something. If you're 70+ you can use a peep sight.

I asked them..."How old before I can use a scope?"

They didn't think that was funny. :idunno:

Capper, you could always go "liberal" on them and file suit under the Americans With Disabilities Act. :nono:

Of course, the club may not consider a such suit to be PC. :haha:

Did you have any trouble getting the hammer to clear the scope? Lately I've been having trouble seeing the blade front sights on my rifles. They are 1/8" silver and they always seem to fuzz out or have a glare to them. Thinking I may have to go with a different non-p.c. style. Maybe a brass or white bead. Maybe even a (oh the humanity) tru-glow type. I'll do whatever I must to keep shooting. Ah, the joys of growing older. :shake:
