You're so right about the chief stealing the show. All of the actors did their parts very well. That seems to be when a movie just comes together snd becomes a great movie.Of course it takes a good script to start with or all the good acting in the world wont turn it into a good movie.But it looks like they had all of the right ingredients in this one. Crying Shame Eastwood grew older, can you imagine a sequel?

Yep, it was in Chapter 6 of Gone To Texas. Sorry for not replying sooner, I've had some things going on that needed taking care of.

"For a long time he sighted down the barrel....then...BOOM!. The heavy rifle reverberated in echo across the river. All activity stopped on the ferry. The men stood motionless, frozen in motion. the cable parted from the pilings with a telegraphic ZING of sound. For a moment the ferry in the middle of the river floated motionless, suspended. Slowly it began to swing downstream. Faster and faster, as the current picked up its load of men and horses. Now there was shouting...men dashed first to one end then the other in confusion. Two horses jumped over the side and swam in a circle.
"Godalmighty!" Jamie breathed.
The confused tangle of shouting men and pitching horses was carried at locomotive speed....farther and farther....until they disappeared around the trees of the river bend.
"That there," Josey grinned, "is called a Missouri boat ride."

Really?, those were Walkers? I could have swore they were Dragoons. I knew that one was a 1860 Army. Any way those were some kind of cool looking guns. NowI'm even more impressed than before!

Nope. Walkers. Note the ramrod with no catch on the end and the 1 1/2 inch longer barrel on the big Walker. A truly heavy but, awesome weapon!

Hollywood does some stupid things. What if they decided to do a remake of this movie. And they probably will someday! 3:10 to Yuma, Magnificent 7, the Alamo, True Grit, etc. Who do you suppose they'd get to play the part?
