They also seem to like 2F better than 3F. I sold my Walker in one of my periodic fits of idiocy, but still have a pair of Uberti 2nd Model Dragoons.

They shoot really well w/ a .457" ball, greased felt wad, and 45gr of 2F.

Question for the Walker owners:

How is the accuracy? Does the sight being on the back of the hammer make you drop the gun slightly as soon as the hammer falls?

Do you have to file the hammer notch to get proper accuracy?

Accuracy is FINE! I win local matches with my out-of-the-box Uberti Walker all of the time! Even hit a set of Scott air tanks (Firemen's) at 135 yards 3 out of 5 times with a single cylinder's worth!

The trick is to practice, and just hold the darn thing steady while the hammer drops and the explosion happens! Very repeatable results!

Wouldn't buy it as a first revolver though! Learn the mechanics with a smaller Colt, then step up to the Blaster with a 50 grain charge of 3Fg Goex, a .454 ball and a wonder-wad under the ball!

The Uberti Walker by far is the most accurate of my cap and ball collection.
50 grains Goex, .454 ball and the 4+ lbs of weight to help steady it =
The hammer sight is right on at 10-12 yards.

I made a leather strap for mind with a snap that keep the loading lever in its place. I always fire mine up with 6o grains...heeheehee.

Didn't the original Walkers crack cylinders with loads like that?

Some Rangers use to load the conicals backwards. They thought the point was for easy loading. This put more pressure on the wall of the chamber.

I like shooting 60 gr 3FG in my Walker. It does have an appetite for powder. Last time at the range with it we were shooting bowling pins at about 60 yards, and hitting them on a regular basis. Very accurate. And 12-14" metal gongs out to 125 yrds, again, very accurate.

Shooting it at night or in low light conditions is a thrill also.

Hmmm, so could a Walker be used to kill a Whitetail out to say 50yds?

Probably so. But it would also depend on shot placement... and a lot of practise.

And then there would be the game laws for your state :idunno:

:v Hey thanks for those action pix---talk about porn----the sight of a Walker belching fire and smoke along with the "bang!" and bump really gets the juices flowing. Lookout at my Range this Sunday w'ere gonna raise some Hell? "Doc"

I had one out this deer season, but nothing came up close enough for me to risk a shot. I had several within 50 yards, but I made up my mind that I wouldn't take a shot unless it came within 25. At that distance there is no doubt in my mind that I would have dropped one. As it was I ended up finishing the season empty handed. That is the risk you take when venturing forth with 19th century technology, still I enjoyed every minute of the hunt.
