Hello everyone. :blah:
I'm not a muzzleloader however i am very much in love with one. :) I am looking to get a WOW this Valentine's day when i give he his gift. So the only thing i can think of is to give him something from his 1st love and that's muzzleloading.
I know nothing about it other then Balls, lube, ram rods and other words that i never take the correct way. Nothing like a bunch of drunk muzzleloaders sitting around a camp fire talking about lubing their balls. And of course i was drunk too and fell off my chair from laughing.
So i wanted to ask all of you what would you like your girlfriend/wife to give to you? Dollar cap is 200. So i won't be able to buy him a gun. He makes his own clothes for the revolutionary war renacting. He does leather works and has so many tools for that too. I'm lost on what to get/find. So if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

He does not know i'm doing this. I have no idea if he is even a member on this website. But we are from NY. He's on the New York Team and i think the international team. But he didn't have a chance to go to France this year. He's my hero and i love him very much. So anything you can do to help me find the perfect gift for my muzzleloader. Thank you for listening to me babble. :) i tend to ramble. Jennifer

More info please W-E! So he is into re-enacting .. and what gear does he have now? Rev War era? Does he have a knife? A tomahawk? A possibles Bag? Powder horn? :hatsoff: Is he regular, militia, or a woodsman type?

Davy :hmm:

Revolutionary War re-enacting. For guns he's got lots, flintlock, matchlock and i have no idea what the rest are. He has bags. not sure about the tomahawk.

one more thing you're talking terminology that i don't understand so please bare with me.

He probably has all the muzzleloading stuff he needs . You can't go wrong with a bottle of good Bourbon :hmm: . Maybe throw in 5 pounds of Goex black powder , for good measure .

Unless he has a horn he's crazy about, $200 would buy a mighty fine one usually. Maybe with scrimshaw tailored to his tastes. I know I'd be smiling wide if I got one as a gift.

hahaha :hatsoff: I think he's got plenty of black powder, he didn't use all of what he bought last year.

Something like a Rev war relic maybe?

WHAT IS THAT?? hahaha toot toot ??? :rotf:

I just looked up the horns in google, WOW those are nice!!! i'm not sure if he has one or not, but they are sweet!

There may be some good books around dealing with the Rev War or Muzzleloading rifles.
A good used book store often has books on these subjects that have been long out of print and the cost will be way below your $200 limit.

Good luck.
zonie :)

I'm finding different kinds of horns. Wolf, rendezvous, lewis and clark, and pilgrim. Any suggestions which one?? :hmm:

The Lewis and clark is fantastic!!! a bit over my price but omg it's perfect. I bow to you
Plink!! I sure do hope Freddy doesn't have one already.

If he's into the Revolutionary War, things from the Rendezvous era (1820-1840)and Lewis and Clark (1803-1806) would be from too late in time.

Actually even a horn with a Eagle on it or anything with the word "Union" would be too late as they really didn't become popular until after the Rev War.

Something with a map of an East coast area, a old sailing ship or Vines with curly branches might be good.

zonie :)

OOOOOH good point thank you!! I'll keep looking. Boy, Google is coming in handy tonight! :)

Thanks Zonie!

Okay i'm beat i'll try again tomorrow to find something special. There are a lot of muzzling loading websites. My head is spinning!

night all :snore: thanks for the help!

I think he already has the perfect gift, he has you for a wife!
My wife bought me a gift cert. from TOTW (Track Of The Wolf)so that I could start getting things I needed for my gun. You might consider the same and maybe he could come up with the difference needed for the gun of his dreams. I did some overtime and pager duty at work to come up with extra $$.

Why don't you find a spa somewheres, close, and reserve a room- its probably getting late for this year- but if you don't look, you won't find. Treat im to a massage, a soak with you in a jacuzzi, and a weekend of pleasure. If you can also afford to buy some book on the Revolutionary War- There are always good biographies coming out on various leaders of note- he can spend some time just reading on his favorite subject.

Unless you are more familiar with his equipment, its just a guess if he needs something now he doesn't already have. He may not need a powder horn, simply because he is using a Brown Bess replica and loads from paper cartridges held in a leather and wood box.

:applause:

Lucky guy that husband of yours!!!

Anyhow check out www.dixiegunworks.com
They have a PILE of affordable neat gift stuff and kits of all sorts...

Every flintlock officianado needs flints...

Dixie has english gunflints 1'' is the usual standard for military muskets...

My kids bought me a pocket(fob) watch and chain for my re enacting kit for Xmas.
Do you know what type of shooting he does with the overseas team -long - medium -short.

Give him a visa gift card and then he can order something that he may want. If it were me, that would work the best. My wife does not know anything about the sport ,either. So don't feel out of place. Good luck.

If he has a lady like you and doesn't make you his wife then he needs his head examined (with a 2X4). :rotf:

yeah I second that and then check back with some of us!

good luck in your search for a gift, but I think someone above said it best, he already has the perfect one!
