It was too wet to play
We did not go out of the house
All that cold cold wet day.

Opening day of Turkey season in KY and its pouring buckets outside and about 43 degrees. Not exactly the kinda weather that gets em to gobbling. So I'm in the basement working on finishing a NSW trade gun instead of hunting turkeys with my Fowler...drat.

Iowa season opens on Monday. Last Saturday I went out spotting in the morning. It was 17 degrees and very windy. (Now that is cold) Then Wednesday we had 2 inches of snow. Snow is gone but for a few patches and the temp is in the high thirtys today. I was out before first light today and had two gobbling. Spotted another six, before I got out of there. Getting excited now. Only 43 more hours to wait. Rain, shine, snow or wind, I'll be out there on Monday. Leon/Iowa

bummer. if it's any comfort, i'm looking out my window on TAX DAY (the never-popular ides of april) and it's snowing and it's been snowing for the last eight hours and the #$%^ stuff is at least seven or eight inches deep and i know it's Vermont, but really, this is getting a bit much.

well, there's always mud season which, with all this snow, ought to be spectacular.
