There is an American company producing black powder

They also call it “Hot Down and Dirty” powder. If it was real black powder I would expect the would just call it black powder. As Appalachian Hunter mentioned it is also called a propellant and that is another red flag.

As I stated elsewhere, I have my suspicions this is not a true BP and leans more the way of the other subs, One would think the manufacture of the product would follow these sorts of forums and see the discussions on the product and set this to bed either it is true BP or a sub. As the posted pic of the ad states a PROPELLANT why would they not just say BLACK POWDER.

He stated that there. But isn't it curious that the website says "propellant" and in the linked thread he is looking for a "tester." I'd think such things would be in order before offering it for sale.

@ftg99 was looking for a tester last August, and 10 months later there's powder available. The time from planning to production seems fair, but like many others I'm not sure that "propellant" means real black powder, which is usually bottled as such and labeled an explosive. At $20 per pound, that's a good price. Wonder if it's all small batch, and the scale of production.

I do hope the manufacturer has good luck with the product. I for one will not use it until some questions posted here are cleared up.

In a parallel thread, a forum member shot some in a flintlock. Also shared a photo of the back label, as well as some Chrono data. Looks like a lower energy, maybe a little dirtier than goex or swiss, but worked as the real stuff should. Certainly encouraging.

I think you mean "ABP," not "APB." The producer has said it's real BP. Until someone actually PROVES otherwise, what you say is unfounded. Just because the container says "propellant" doesn't mean it's not real. (The fact the ATF says BP is used as a propellant in rockets and fireworks doesn't help matters.)

He offered my FEL 500 lbs at $13.50 per lib. I would love to do some chronograph testing compared to the schuetzen and swiss I'm currently shooting. No way we are buying bulk without testing first. We shoot compatition so accuracy is the goal.

Is there a chance you are mistaking this product for American Pioneer black powder substitute?

american pioneer powder was the best substitute that I ever saw. I liked it better then BP. I found a bottle that was 35 years old along with pyrodex. the pyro had 50% ignition rate and the AP went off 100%

Oops, should have read to the bottom before posting; so as others have pointed out, shouldn’t use propellant in describing BP.

Well if it works in a flintlock then that is close enough to real back powder for me. Someone stated above that someone tried it in a flintlock and it worked. Thus it is good to go as far as I am concerned.
