And be careful not to drill all the way through. Been there, done that.
So the drill bit is used to cone only? I read it as drilling all the way through with it then cone.

It is a #2 Centerdrill. The small part is 5/64" and the cone drill is much larger. You drill thru the face first & normally that will take the 5/64 thru the straight part of the vent liner & also cone the face. Turn it over & then do the other side. but don't get into the threads.

Gotcha...looked up the part in McMaster-Carr. How deep do you go with the cone?

Sorry for all the questions but when I do it I want to do it right.

:hmm:...muzzleloading forum...it's starting to sound more like the penthouse forum...

It is a very light come & you want to keep about .025 straight wall thickness in the vent center, and you want to have enough slot on each side to be abler to get the vent out if need be.

If you want me to cone one I will & mail it to you. If you like it fine, send me a replacement & if not just mail it back. Cost ya the mailing only & ya won't have to buy bits & etc.

Your option........ IF ya want to do this send me a email. [email protected]

I urge you to go flint. If someday you feel you need a change, then go matchlock.

I couldn't say that better myself! If not a Matchlock (I loooovvee the smell of slowmatch), one could also try out one of the proto-flinters like a Snaphaunce or try a Wheellock if ya want to go the pyrite route. :hmm:

The early rock locks are pretty nice to shoot.

Slowmatch Forever!

Claude,

Have you private messaged the offenders to let them know of their transgressions?

The most unreliable with the gun is me. I have always a misfire when I´ve forgotten to fill in the powder(I´m specialist in doing so).
If I have filled in the powder I normally have no misfires and flintlock shooting makes addicted.

Fair enough. I was just curioius - some may not have been thinking when they posted and needed a gentle reminder.
