I have the above mentioned rifle that I bought over 20 years ago.
Health issues have caused me to sell it to someone who can really use it.
Does anyone have a idea of what it might be worth ?

Was it built with original parts and a Nixon barrel or reproduction parts? It's quite possible Tom built it using many original parts and that could affect the value. Bore condition is very important too. Yes we need those photos.

I purchased the same Nixon made musket two years ago and paid $1200. An absolute bargain.

Bobby Hoyt, 1 in 56", .577 cal. That barrel will shoot! The lock appears to be an original.

That’s a very good deal for a Nixon built gun. The last time I talked to Tom he had pretty much quit building. If you could get him to build you one it would be closer to $3,000. I believe he told me parts alone would cost close to the asking price. Tom is a first class gunsmith and one of the best builders of this style gun there is. He usually uses a lot of original parts on his builds.

Just out of curiosity, when was the last time you talked to Tom? I thought he had completely stopped building anything about five years ago.

I was at his house about a year ago when I had him do some lock work for me. I’m not for sure if he’s doing any full builds or not. I think he’s slowed down a lot, and is just doing a few small gunsmithing jobs now.
