Took the Brace of Walkers out today, along with the Old Man.

40 gr of 2f for charges, shot very well.

I had bought Track of the Wolf nipples that were supposed to fit CCI #11's, but didn't. So....used the stock nipples with pinched RWS 1075's.

I removed the blue from the cylinders , I think it looks sharp and gives them a "correct " historical appearance.

I have 2 Walker flasks I picked up over the past few years but I haven't tried them yet. I hear they don't work well.

Everytime I see a brace of Walkers I think, ' how in the heck did Clint Eastwood carry his and 2/3 more pistols besides!'. I once tried on a brace of a friends holstered Walkers to live out my Clint Eastwood fantasy, I discovered your pants will fall down.
Well done OP, have to get out and shoot mine now that the winter weather is turning.

Weren't Walkers & Dragoons most often carried in holsters draped over a saddle horn? Shoulder holster or belt holster with some type of suspender system would probably work, but I can't imagine too many people ever walked around with one of those beast in a simple belt holster except in a movie. That people were generally smaller in stature back then makes it even more problematic. I almost bought one of those saddle holsters until I checked on the cost to keep the horse!! Wow! They eat a lot of hay!

I'm inclined to agree. But for Josey Wales it seems improbably that 2+Walker revolvers on a belt holster makes any sense particularly with mobility in mind.

To be honest I only fired one of them.....it was getting late in the day and I was getting hungry :)

Next time out I'm shooting both

A guy carrying two of these on a belt is pure movie stuff, yes , these were carried by the Texas Rangers in pommel holsters. No way are you gonna be walking around with even one of these in a holster all day, that would get old quick.

Gen McClellan apparently carried a Dragoon but I doubt he woke up in the morning and strapped on the Big Iron and just walked around. No doubt it lived in his foot locker most of the time

Quality time with your dad is priceless, I recently saw your video on youtube shooting the Parker Hale musketoon great presentation, I would like to know where you purchased the cartridge box? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I had read how the loading lever flops down. I see it in happened in one of your photo. Does that interfere with the operation?

When the load lever drops the rammer enters the bottom chamber of the cylinder, not allowing the cylinder to rotate when cocking the hammer.

The same thing happens with all of the Dragoons (Whitneyville Hartford, 1st, and 2nd Models) with the "S"-type load lever catch, but not as frequently. Only the 3rd Model Dragoon with the 1851 Navy type catch does not do this.

The Dragoon "S"-type catch:

Walkers were meant to be carried in pommel holsters and let the horse do the work.
Hollywood uses replicas that are lighter for show. For shooting they do use real guns with unmentionable conversion cylinders as i ma told

True and true. Even carrying two or more Navy revolvers in side holsters would feel like boat anchors if carried walking for any length of time.

How are Hollywood replicas lighter???
beats me that is just what I read somewhere..
On carrying Walker Colts I was told my an old time New Mexico mountain cowboy who only walked as far as from the door to the table
"If God had meant for man to walk very far He would have give man four legs like a hoss"
And I believe that Shorty Murry (RIP) would not lie.
