Toy Caps in a Black Powder Revolver

Interesting experiment, probably been touched on here before, but the difference in cap brands was enlightening.

Ground powder into a almost fine talc. using thumb and forefinger pinch a small amount and smear it into the nipple.
Toy caps alone are not enough

You need to realize the toy gun caps you get NOW are way way weaker than when you were a kid…….😞

I tried that in a revolver, they ignited the powder but clogged up the nipples.

At one point I know ground glass was added to priming compound to give it more oomph.

I wonder if any propellant can be added to the toy cap and sealed like the propellant you can buy from the people that sell the cap dies

3d print your caps. Much better quality, you can adjust your size for extra prime too.

The ring caps i tried sometimes went off with thumb pressure while seating. Be careful.

I was digging under my shop bench and a tin caught my eye, hmm, that looks like Caps.

Yep, from the era, it was a 2nd tin of Caps my wife had to have given me when she gave me the ASP NMA. I found another tin in the same area a while back. No memory of Caps with that gun, but that was 10 years ago.

So now I have another 100 caps! They are Vodelerlader-Zundhutchen, aka RWS-1075.
