my Pedersoli is one of the ones with a really good lock.......ignition time is as close to zero as can be imagined......faster than percussion rifles.

The Blue Ridge, & Kentucky seem to have these locks........the Jaegers and Mortimers seem very problematic.

I have one of the Pedersoli rifles and it works fine. The lock time is very quick and it always sparks well. I've never had a failure to fire with it.

See I had the exact opposite with a blue ridge... It all depends on how anal you are, which I am allot... I found both the mainspring and frizzen spring to be entirely to stiff and strong. I also had issues with the frizzen being improperly hardened.

One needs to understand you absolutely will not get the quality in a production rifle as you would in the previously mentioned Kibler kits. However, if my gift card was to go towards a production flinter it certainly would be a blue ridge (essentially a Pedersoli frontier) over any traditions rifle.

If one is to apply their own funds to the purchase, then save your dollars for a real kit.

I'm another in the camp that thinks the Traditions are just fine. You will find the manufacturing and engineering to be of good quality.
